Ben Browder was born in Memphis, Tennessee. He attended Myers Park High School in Charlotte, North Carolina, earned a BS in psychology at Furman University, and then went on to study drama at Central School of Speech and Drama in London, England, where he met his wife, Francesca Buller. He and Buller have two children.
After several appearances on stage, including traditional Shakespeare, Browder garnered a few minor appearances in feature films, including a small part as a rookie captain in Memphis Belle (1990) and the role of a short-lived boyfriend in A Kiss Before Dying (1991), with Sean Young and Matt Dillon. He was first widely exposed to the American and Canadian television viewing audience as the recurring character of "Sam" on the series "Party of Five" (1994).
In 1999, Jim Henson productions teamed with the SciFi channel to produce "Farscape" (1999), where Browder was cast to play the main character, American astronaut John Crichton. After 4 glorious seasons the show was cancelled but Browder was able to reprise his role as John Crichton, thanks in large part to the fans of the show, in the Farscape miniseries "The Peacekeeper Wars."
Ben joined Stargate SG1 in 2005 as Lt Colonel Cameron Mitchell. He appeared as the leader of SG1 in Season 9 and 10 and after the shows final run he starred in two Stargate movies ; "The Ark of Truth" and "Continuum"
He has appeared on an episode of "Chuck," "Doctor who "A Town called mercy" and two episodes of CW's ARROW. He appeared as Max Rainwater in the Indie Horror film "Bad Kids go to Hell" and is reprised this role and directed the sequel to the movie released in 2017 "Bad Kids of Crestview Academy"
In the 2016 movie "Outlaws and Angels" Ben appeared along side Francesca Eastwood, Chad Michael Murray and Luke Wilson.
